Why are we having this conference?
Chosen People Ministries decided to honor the fallen and the families of those who perished in the 9/11 tragedy twenty years ago. We worship a God of hope who raises us above the tragedies and difficulties of life. We also believe that New York City is one of the great centers of modern Jewish life. We recognize the connections between New York City and Jerusalem are powerful and binding. These two cities are critically important to God and Chosen People Ministries, and I hope they are to you and your family as well.
In many ways, the events of 9/11 wedded these two great cities together in new way. New York City and Jerusalem, which are global symbols of modern Jewish life, are very different from one another, but so many Jewish people have friends and family in both places.
Chosen People Ministries is a ministry born in New York City, and we love this city. We believe in the importance of New York City on the global stage, which still has the second-largest concentration of Jewish people of any metropolitan area in the world, just after Tel Aviv. Our ministry also has tremendous ties in Israel, with a staff of more than twenty-five people there: We have workers throughout the country and maintain centers in the greater Tel Aviv area and Jerusalem.
We cannot think about what happened on 9/11 without thinking of the ways in which Israel remains vulnerable to the very same terrorist philosophy as those who perpetrated the events of September 11. We exist to tell Jewish people about Yeshua, the true hope of Israel and the light of the world.
About Chosen People Ministries:
Chosen People Ministries is a 127-year-old mission to the Jewish people and exists to pray for, evangelize, disciple, and serve Jewish people everywhere and help fellow believers do the same. The Mission was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1894 by Rabbi Leopold Cohn, a Hungarian Jewish immigrant with a zeal to share the knowledge of Jesus the Messiah with God’s chosen people. Today, Chosen People Ministries serves in more than two dozen cities in the United States with large Jewish populations and nineteen countries across the globe. Our outreach programs include evangelism and discipleship, Messianic Centers and congregations, equipping the local church for Jewish evangelism, digital evangelism through our Isaiah 53 Campaigns and I Found Shalom videos, and benevolence work.
